^C^1PHONE WORDS
^CBy B.J. Fontenot
^CAdapted for the IBM-PC by Richard Wong

We realize that the publishers of BIG BLUE DISK seldom see how your magazette
changes the lives of its readers, so we decided to write in with this little
story...

A bunch of us were sitting around late Saturday night, quite content to have
found a creature feature in the midst of all those horrid music video programs
that infest late night cable programming these days. Just as Godzilla was
about to lay waste to still another skyline, we got the commercial.

It turned out that we had been given a once-in-a-lifetime chance to have a
fine-crafted imported olive pit extractor/press guaranteed to make delicious
olive oil to go with a delicious health salad for only $19.95. (VISA and
MASTERCARD accepted).

Since we had already ordered a Wondermatic food processor that would slice,
dice, and julienne anything softer than high carbon steel, and since the offer
was liable to expire without advance notice, we almost trampled one another
trying to get to the phone.

"OK, what was that number again?"

"1-800-PIT-AWAY"

"What is that in real numbers?"

"How should I know? I'm busy looking for your charge card."

"Why don't you just look at the little numbers on the telephone?" a newcomer
to our little group asked.

Pathetic wretch... we tried not to look too sorry for him. Didn't the poor sap
know it was the Computer Age?

"Quick! Break out BIG BLUE DISK #3!" we cried.

Soon we had PHONE WORDS from B. J. Fontenot up and running. This program
converts the letters of a phone number into numbers, and vice versa. All you
have to do is type in the phone number you want converted and press RETURN.

There is even a more practical option. If you enter a phone number, this option
will print all of the possible combinations of letters. Looking through the
list, you're bound to find a handy mnemonic for your home or business phone
number.

Well, to make a long story short, we got our olive pit extractor/press a few
months later. And a few months after that, PHONE WORDS helped us capitalize on
a chance to own "Slim Whitman: BIOGRAPH," a 25-volume set of the works from a
singer more popular than the Beatles!

Thank you, BIG BLUE.
