^C^1IT FIGURES DEMO
^Cfrom SimplSoft Products, Inc.

SimplSoft's "electronic worksheet" is a simple, easy-to-learn spreadsheet
program for users who have no need for multi-cell behemoths like Lotus 1-2-3 or
SuperCalc. |E~1It Figures^N is no simple pop-up calculator, however; the program
supports global variables and advanced trigonometric and statistical functions.
You can set up templates which project the value of IRAs, stocks, and other
investments, figure mortgage payments, or calculate profit margins for small
business ventures. In addition, |E~1It Figures^N provides around 50 existing
templates for a wide variety of applications.

A Demo's Worth a Thousand Words. . .
------------------------------------

An |E~1It Figures^N spreadsheet occupies a single screen divided into three columns
-- one for formulas, one for the results of calculations, and one for comments.
A command line at the bottom of the screen displays the commands for editing
the spreadsheet, loading other spreadsheets, or displaying help screens.
(There's no need for us to discuss the details -- after all, that's what the |E~1It
|E~1Figures^N demo is for.)

Once you've completed the demo, you have the option to work with three |E~1It
|E~1Figures^N templates: MORTGAGE, STOCK, and ANNUITY. These templates can be
altered in any way you want, just like any |E~1It Figures^N template. You cannot,
however, save your changes to disk, nor can you use global variables.

What can you do? After you understand how the template is put together, you
may input your own values for the variables. Enter a command with this syntax
to change a variable:

^C^1variable=new value.

In the STOCK template, for example, you may change the size of your investment
from $8,000 to $20,000 by entering

^C^1INVEST=20000.

Play around with the templates' variables -- one of the best features of |E~1It
|E~1Figures^N is that it lets you see the answers to questions like "What if I
invested $20,000 instead of $8,000?" almost instantly.

Commands
--------

As you might expect, we cannot give you detailed information on each program
command. (The |E~1It Figures^N manual is almost 100 pages long.) Fortunately, |E~1It
|E~1Figures^N contains a great deal of helpful internal documentation. Commands are
listed at the bottom of the work screen. (Press F9 to see a complete list.)
Commands which use abbreviations such as (C)ut or (S)wap are used to edit the
work screen. Function keys are used to list files on disk, load new files, or
print spreadsheets. The most important command for our purposes is F7, which
displays help screens detailing all of the commands used by the program. With
these help screens and the demo itself, you should have no trouble exploring |E~1It
|E~1Figures^N on your own.
