TO: Squad Leaders Federated Worlds Special Forces
FM: Fleet Admiral H. Nichols, FWSF, FIQ Axia
RE: New Unification Talks and the Tau Ceti III Expedition Force
MG:

The Federated World's space and planetary forces have been put on full alert, We have just learned that the UDP has placed an undercover agent on board the Tau Ceti III Expedition force headed by Capt. Alex G. Seward in an attempt to undermine the mission and establish their own diplomatic and military alliance with the Home Cluster. We believe that is why the New Unification Talks on Axia have come to a complete standstill.

Undercover operatives have heard rumors that the UDP might have made contact with an unknown intelligent alien race which might account for the recent appearance of a terrorist weapon nicknamed the "Seeker". It appears completely alien to our technology and extremely deadly (also very hard to kill).

Because of these two disturbing events, we have canceled all leaves and all troops are now an full alert Standby for further orders.

Fleet Adm. H. Nichols FWSF

END TRANSMISSION

SCENARIOS SHOULD BE PLAYED IN THE FOLLOWING ORDER

NOTE: Refer to page 13 in your Breach 2 manual for Information on how to play these scenarios.

Undercover Attack

Difficulty rating: Medium

Synopsis: We are sending you and a team of undercover operatives in to penetrate to UDP diplomatic mission on Axia to help shed some light on the recent hard line UDP bargaining tactics and their aggressive behavior.

Strategy: The UDP knows you landed so troops will probably be waiting. The facility is also heavily patrolled, so be careful.

Chaining: Chains to scenario 'Dagger Ship Boarding' with a new squad of marines.

Dagger Ship Boarding

Difficulty rating: Easy

Synopsis: The Information you obtained on Axia confirms that the UDP has made contact with an unknown alien race. The data you captured has located a UDP Exploratory Dagger Ship that may shed further light on the deteriorating diplomatic and military situation. The vessel has been disabled, but refuses surrender. You and your team are being sent over to retrieve data packs and prisoners,

Strategy: Sensors indicate only a small armed force on board. You should not have any problem. The men you have in your squad may have to last you awhile so be careful with them. Remote charges are the only thing that can destroy allen 'seekers' - other weapons can only disable them. WARNING - Be careful with the remote charges. In addition to destroying seekers, they can also destroy liftshafts. and transporters.

Chaining: Chain to scenario 'Asteroid Landing' with surviving marines from this scenario. This is an easy mission so you shouldn't lose, more than one or two marines. Remember, you won't be getting replacements for a while.

Asteroid Landing

Difficulty rating: Hard

Synopsis: We have located an asteroid from the coordinates you captured on the enemy vessel. Sensors have picked up computer transmissions from the surface. These readings are similar to the ones we encountered coming from the terrorist seeker units that have been attacking FW government buildings over the past few weeks. You and your surviving team members are being sent in to investigate.

Strategy: Remember, seekers are extremely dangerous. The only weapon we have on board that will destroy them are remote charges. All other weapons have only a chance of disabling them for up to 2-1/2 minutes. Use your crack unit as soon as you beam down to help you figure out where you need to go. Undercover UDP agents may be on board your ship, so be careful.

Beach Landing

Difficulty raft: Medium

Synopsis: UDP diplomatic and military talks between these aliens and the UDP high command have started on the backwater planet Baliosol in the Nilock System. Federated World Officials have decided this is a flagrant violation of the Non-Aggresslon Act of 2362 and have ordered a planetary surgical invasion strike along the coast of Kern. You will be leading a team of crack marines in to capture and secure the coast along with a UDP listening post just inland.

Strategy: Sensors indicate you were picked up by radar on your approach, so secure your landing area as soon as possible. Once again, replacements are hard to come by at this time so be careful.

Chaining: Chains to scenario 'Trails and Junctions' with marines that survive this mission.

Trails and Junctions

Difficulty rating: Medium

Synopsis: You and your squad must clear the trails in sector 919. It's being used to transport supplies to a rumored UDP Psionic training facility where the aliens are teaching their refined and deadly psionic talents.

Strategy: I hope most of the members of your squad survived the previous scenario, you may need them. Don't let your men bunch up. The trails might be mined, so use your scouts along with the detector to help spot proximity charges.

Supply Route

Difficulty rating: Medium

Synopsis: Orbital recon has located a major highway that the UDP is using to transport fuel and other supplies. You must acquire info on the amount of enemy traffic serviced, occupy and hold to main junction, and eliminate at least 60 percent of the enemy in this sector.

Strategy: Don't bunch your men up. Leave at least one space between them.

Chaining: Chaim to scenario 'Fuel Depot' where you got a new squad of men.

Fuel Depot

Difficulty rating: Hard

Synopsis: Your success in capturing the UDP supply highway has helped locate the main Ore IV storage facility for the planet. Your orders are to destroy this facility.

Strategy: Exploding fuel tanks are just as good at destroying the enemy as is laser fire or explosives.

Tank Assault

Difficulty rating: Hard

Synopsis: You must slow down an advancing UDP Tank column that is heading through your area. Hold your hillside occupation squares with your rocket gunners and destroy at lead 60 percent of the advancing armor.

Strategy: Use grav shoe scouts as spotters for your rocket gunners. Don't venture off your high ground until the enemy has been softened up.

Ambush on the River

Difficulty rating: Hard

Synopsis: You are ordered to attack a UDP camp site along the Karn River. Capture several UDP officials that are taking their morning bath and retrieve any useful data you find.

Strategy: You are beaming down right in the middle of their camp. While you have the advantage of surprise, you must become aware of your surroundings. The first 30 seconds is critical. Be careful not to destroy important data packs or people you are suppose to capture alive.

Moon Outpost

Difficulty rating: Hard

Synopsis: The UDP officials you captured while they were taking their bath have spilled their guts. The Terraforming activity taking place on the second moon of Baliosol is in reality an Alien monitoring facility set up to observe their progress with the UDP. The agents we placed in the colony some time back have either been captured or killed. You are being sent in to rescus any agents still alive and capture any data packs that might provide further information.

Strategy: You have plenty of time on this mission, so be sure to waste a turn here and there to get your men's vitality back up.

Trapped

Difficulty rating: Hard

Synopsis: You and your squad are trapped. You have laid out a defensive field and a few foxholes, but the enemy is about to breach your perimeter. HQ is aware of your situation and has landed a shuttle just north of your position. Do the best you can to make it to the pickup point.

Strategy: Soften the enemy up before venturing past your defensive force fields.

Swamp Maneuver

Difficulty rating: Hard

Synopsis: Rescue FW undercover agents that the UDP are holding in a swampy area. They may have located the coordinales of the rumored UDP psionic training facility before they were captured.

Strategy: Sensors have picked up transponder signals to the southwest.

Chaining: chains to scenario 'Psionic School' where you got a new team of men.

Psionic School

Difficulty rating: Very Hard

Synopsis: Since you were the one to obtain the location of the Psionic training facility you have the honor of making the assault. We are sending you and a team of PSI talents into the facility to capture UDP training officials and their training techniques.

Strategy: Only stun pistols have been issued to your men to help prevent killing the people you are suppose to capture. A few explosives have been provided, but only for use in gaining entry to buildings and other facilities. Remember, stuns only disable for a short period of time and don't always kill.

Stampede

Difficulty rating: Medium

Synopsis: The UDP has started a stampede of beasts in your sector, so we are transporting you down right in their path. Your orders are to eliminate at least 90% of the herd.

Strategy: Have your men lay proximity charges in their path and draw them towards you. Hopefully, this will destroy enough of them to give you a chance at getting the rest.

Sea Assault

Difficulty rating: Hard

Synopsis: In a last ditch effort to regain control of the planet the UDP was able to penetrate our planetary defenses and send lending craft toward the coast of Karn. Destroy at least 60 percent of the invading force along with their computer data pack info.

Strategy: Use your crack unit immediately to locale the enemy positions. Scouts issued water grav shoes should be used to soften the enemy up while your marauders finish them off.

Telnike Pass

Difficulty rating: Hard

Synopsis: The enemy is transporting valuable information about the alien race with which they have formed an alliance. A fully armored platoon is transporting this info through the Telnike Pass as you receive this comm. Capture this data detailing the alien race and make your way southeast for pickup.

Strategy: You only have 10 minutes, so you'd better work fast

Medical Shuttle

Difficulty rating: Hard

Synopsis: While escorting a medical shuttle back to HQ, you were shot down by UDP ground fire. The surviving wounded are in pretty bad shape. The location transponder was damaged and you have no idea when and if help will arrive. Destroy all on-board computer data packs, gather your men, and initiate a search pattern in hope of locating a rescue shuttle.

Strategy: The area is suppose to be free from enemy activity (please note, I said "supposed to"), but there is a large population of other animal life that may prove dangerous.

Forest Clearing

Difficulty rating. Very Hard

Synopsis: The UDP is making a last ditch effort to throw us off the planet. They have overrun our HQ and other main positions. You and your squad are ordered to help slow the enemy down as we make our retreat. You must defend the Talos Pass against the UDP advance. You must occupy at least two key positions on the Talos Hill 56, destroy at least 50% of the attacking forces, and rescue your brother marines.

Strategy: Use marines "Digger" and "Worker" to dig fox holes around the hill to help fortify your position. Don't be sucked out too soon to rescue the prisoners (that's exactly what they want).

Shipment of Weapons

Difficulty rating: Very Hard

Synopsis: Board and capture a UDP weapons/seeker freighter that has entered the system still thinking that the planet is controlled by the UDP and Aliens. Be on the lookout for any computer data packs that might pinpoint the location of the Alien home world.

Strategy: Use your special anti-spacecraft rockets before graving over.

Orbital Defend

Difficulty rating: Hard

Synopsis: The UDP has moved an orbital bombardment platform into polar orbit. Destroy at least 60% of the orbital cannons in 40 minutes before they become operational. Other UDP ships might be in the area, so stay frosty.

Strategy: A combination of using the crack unit and rocketeers might prove useful in softening them up before graving over. Remember, you have an advantage over the orbital laser cannons, they can't move so they can't get the angles on you. Even if a cannon is within range, it still might not be able to fire because of its limited range of angles. You can also beam over to the enemy ship and lay remote charges, but that is extremely dangerous.

Oil Refinery

Difficulty rating: Hard

Synopsis: We have located an oil refinery deep within the jungles. Since it is somewhat hidden, it must be of some importance. You and your men are ordered to go in and gather any information on where this oil is being sent.

Strategy: Careful around the fuel tanks. You could blow up a data pack you need to capture.

Chaining: Chains to 'Bridge Assault' with a new squad of men.

Bridge Assault

Difficulty rating: Easy

Synopsis: The only land access to the breeder farm is over the Karn Bridge. Air recon indicates it is heavily defended. Head south and eliminate 50% of the UDP forces and hold the bridge until the main FW force arrives.

Strategy: In addition to eliminating 50% of the enemy, you also must occupy four squares on and around the bridge.

Chaining: Chains to scenario 'Breeding Farm'. You got a new squad of men.

Breeder Farm

Difficulty rating: Very Hard

Synopsis: Data from the Karn Bridge you captured pinpoints the location of the Alien Breeder farm. The UDP and the Aliens have apparently come to some agreement and plan to share the planet. The Aliens hatch their young below ground and within several minutes they are fully functional beings. You and your squad are to destroy at least 50 percent of the alien young in order to destroy their gene pool. Also, try to capture any UDP support personnel you find.

Strategy: Their breeding holes can be softened up with grenades.

Chaining: Chains to scenario 'Homeworld Attack' with a new squad of men.

Homeworld Attack

Difficulty rating: Very Hard (nearly Impossible)

Synopsis: The data you secured on the last mission has located the Alien's home planet. To show the Aliens we mean business and force them into negotiating with us, we are sending you and a crack squad in to destroy their computer technology. Destroy all data packs.

Strategy: Good Luck! You'll need it.
