*8
One evening after dinner, you
decide to take a short walk over to
Star Gazer's Knoll, a small hill
just outside of town that is
ideally suited to watching the
stars.
*9
You pull on a winter coat and thick
rubber snow boots, and head across
town. The streets of Star Town are
covered with snow.
*10
You change into shorts and grab
your old windbreaker as you head
across town. There is the scent of
fresh flowers in the air.
*11
You change into shorts and a T-shirt
and head across town. The air is
very warm and humid.
*12
You change into jeans and grab a
light windbreaker to keep warm as
you head across town. The streets
of Star Town are lined with piles
of colorful leaves.
*13
Soon you reach Star Gazer's Knoll.
Star Gazer's Knoll is one of your
favorite spots in town, and you
love watching the stars. You've
even learned your favorite
constellations (the names given to
patterns of stars) by heart.
*14
You lean back against the old
Sundial that is at the top of the
hill...and you suddenly fall
backwards! The Sundial is gone!
You stand up and look around.
Where could it have gone?

Then you look up into the sky and
are greeted by an even stranger
shock!
*15
All the constellations that you
grew up with have somehow all
disappeared, and in their places
are constellations of the strangest
sort!
*21
Just as you clamp your hand over
your mouth in shock, you hear a
soft growl from the bushes on your
right. You turn around. A small
face peers out from behind.
*23
"Hey!" you say, "You're Ursa Minor,
the constellation! I recognize you!"

"That's right!" Ursa says, "I used
to be the constellation right over
there."

Ursa points northward to what is
now the Sundial constellation.
"The Sundial and I swapped places!"
she says with a slight grrrr to her
voice.
*25
Ursa continues, "All of my friends
have been scattered all around Star
Town! And much of Star Town has
been scattered into the sky!
Please help me put the heavens back
together again! Do you think you
can help me?"
*27
"OK," Ursa says, rubbing her small
nose, "here's what we've got to do.
We must travel through Star Town,
find each lost constellation, and
bring it back here, to Star Gazer's
Knoll. Then I can put the
constellation back into the sky.

"We must also make sure to return
each wrong constellation, like the
Sundial, back to where it belongs."

"How do we find the lost
constellations?" you ask.
*29
Ursa explains. "I suspect we can
find each lost constellation by the
unusual constellation that has
replaced it in the sky."

"I get it," you shout. "You
appeared here at Star Gazer's Knoll
because the Sundial (which SHOULD
be here) took your place in the
sky!"

"Exactly!" Ursa says.
*31
You scoop up Ursa Minor and give
her a big hug. "OK, Ursa," you
say, "I'm ready! Let's find your
constellation friends!"

"Great! But before we search
Uptown and Downtown Star Town, do
you want to look at the stars in
the sky again?"
*33
"Let's go to Star Town!" you say.
"I've brought my wagon to carry
whatever we might find. I'm ready!"

"OK," Ursa says, "But remember, any
time you need to look at the sky
and see what constellations are
there, we can always come back here
to Star Gazer's Knoll.

Also remember: In this adventure,
the sky's the limit!"
