"Bombs away!" you shout. "There's a bomb
in here."

Now you must defuse the bomb so it
can't explode. You tell N2FACE to
connect a cable to the bomb's computer.
As soon as the cable is attached, a
series of numbers appears on the Firefly
computer screen.

It is a set of secret code numbers!
N2FACE can only figure out part of the
code!

"Hurray! We defused it," you cry
happily.

"It's a good thing that you did,"
replies N2FACE. "If that bomb had
exploded, we would have been like those
trees outside. Since we're alive,
however, do you want to see the
information I have on Mt. St. Helens?"

and give that code another try, [NAME]!"
says N2FACE.

On May 18, 1980, the 9,677-foot peak
of Mt. St. Helens erupted. The top 1,300
feet of the peak blew up entirely. The
explosion devastated 150 square miles of
Washington state, burying it under
tons of ash and debris. A crater one
mile wide formed where the original peak
had been. In 1986, Mt. St. Helens was
showing signs of activity. It might
erupt again soon!

"There's no sign of a bomb in Mt. St.
Helens, boss," you tell Commander
Stone over the radio.

"I thought you might say that,
rockhead," replies the commander. "As
long as you're wasting time in
Washington, pick some apples for my
horse. And then find those bombs!"

"Well, there it is, [NAME]--Mt. Pelee,"
says N2FACE. The Firefly descends into
the volcano's crater on the beautiful
Carribean island of Martinique.

"I suppose there are worse places to
be a volcano. I wonder how a LAVA agent
could arrange to be stationed in a
beautiful place like Martinique," you
say.

"You would probably have to move
mountains," laughs N2FACE.

You order N2FACE to launch a metal probe
to search for any sign of a bomb. The
propeller-driven device shoots out into
the lava and begins its search pattern.

the cable is attached, a series of

Mt. Pelee stands above the French town
of St. Pierre in the French West Indies.
In 1902, Mt. Pelee erupted. The entire
top of the mountain blew up, sending a
cloud of burning gas, steam, and ash
rolling down the mountainside. St.
Pierre was totally destroyed, and 30,000
people were killed.

There was only one survivor--a prisoner
deep in the dungeons of the town jail.

"I can't see any sign of a bomb in Mt.

Commander Stone sarcastically. "While
you frolic in the West Indies, the world

bombs!"

A red light starts flashing on the
Firefly's control panel. Your heat
shield has been destroyed! You must
return to HQ at once!

"Hold on tight, N2FACE," you say. "We
have to get out of here fast!"

Back at HQ, Commander Pum S. Stone
awaits you.

"[NAME], you destroyed the Firefly's
heat shield," the Commander snarls. "I
guess I'll have to assign another LAVA
agent to search for Dr. No's bombs. On
your next mission, be more careful when
you descend into volcanoes!"

Commander Stone turns away and begins to
look at a long list of LAVA agents.

FLASH...FLASH...FLASH....

Congratulations, [NAME]! You have
defused all three bombs!

Now you must capture Dr. No and free the
LAVA agents. According to agent Magma
PI, Dr. No's lab is located in the
volcano of Cotopaxi in the country of
Ecuador.

Now it's time to capture Dr. No! You
blast off in the Firefly. At midnight
you arrive over Cotopaxi in South
America.

At night your rockets can be seen for
miles around. To avoid being seen by Dr.
No, you turn off the Firefly's rockets.
You use the Firefly's huge parachute to
float into the volcano.

The Firefly settles into the volcano
of Cotopaxi. Ahead you see a huge metal
docking port that leads to Dr. No's
headquarters. You steer the Firefly
through the lava and dock with the port.

You quietly slip out of the Firefly and
tiptoe to a large red door. A sign on
the door says DR. NO'S HQ--KEEP OUT!

As you press your ear against the door
to hear if anyone is inside, the door to
Dr. No's headquarters slides open! You
slip inside. Suddenly, you hear
footsteps. You duck into a doorway and
watch a guard in a red uniform and
baseball cap pass by. Then another goes
by.

How are you going to reach Dr. No
without being caught by the guards?
You've got to find a way!
>1
@ENTER,122
*122
You carefully peek around the corner.
The guards don't notice you...yet. You
decide you can either DISGUISE yourself
like one of Dr. No's henchmen, or FIGHT
the guards.

Which do you want to do?
>8
@"FIGHT",124

You open your Disguise Kit that every
good LAVA agent carries. You quickly
select a red coat and baseball hat and
put them on. You look as if you should
be selling hotdogs at a Cincinnati Reds
game. But you should be able to pass as
one of Dr. No's employees.

Now you must find Dr. No!
>1

You emerge from your hiding place.

Suddenly a guard stops you. You never
even saw him coming!

"You don't belong here," the guard says
menacingly, "and now you're going to pay
the price."
