car, type U CAR.
*2
Type your name.

Then press ENTER.
*2.1
Your name is [NAME].
Is that right?
*3
Have you shopped at Fleener's Department
Store before?
*4
What did you buy on your last shopping
trip?
*5
Sorry. The [WGIFT] Department at
Fleener's hasn't sold anything since
1931.
*6
This is not a good day. It is your
father's birthday, and you don't have a
present for him yet. It's getting late.
And you have only five dollars in your
pocket...in quarters. You sigh as you
push the revolving door to enter
Fleener's Department Store.
*7
Inside Fleener's a woman carrying a huge
spray bottle heads right for you. "Won't
you try our new perfume, [AROMA]?" she
asks. She grabs your arm and sprays it
with [AROMA].

The smell is so strong and so awful that
you stagger backwards. You feel dizzy.
You must wash this stuff off before you
faint!

The rest rooms are on the very top floor
of Fleener's! You spot an express
elevator. The smell of [AROMA] seems
even worse inside the elevator. People
move away from you.
*8
As soon as the elevator door opens, you
race into the rest room.

It seems to take hours, but at last only
a faint whiff of that horrible [AROMA]
smell remains. Now you had better hurry
to find a present for your father. It
must be almost dinner time!

You grab your knapsack and head back to
the Customer Service Department. The
elevators and escalators have stopped.
No one is around. Fleener's must have
closed!
*9
"Calm down," you tell yourself. "I can
find a present and leave my money on the
counter. Then I will just sneak out of
the store without anyone seeing me. No
problem!"

Then you see a sign. It says, "Security
provided by Robo-Guard, the robot patrol
system."

"Uh-oh," you think. "The night guards
are robots! I cannot explain my problem
to them. I will just have to outsmart
them." You check your pocket one more
time for your $5 in quarters, and you
set off quickly.
