## SYSTEM QUAKE ## ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ROM files extensions accepted: ".quake" Put your Quake id1 folder & associated files in this directory. Make sure all data files are lowercase, e.g. "id1", not "ID1" and "pak0.pak", not "PAK0.PAK". Some distributions of the game have upper case file names, e.g. from GOG.com. If your system supports Vulkan you can use vkQuake for more features. Create a blank launch file with a .quake extension to be able to start the game from ES. i.e. `Quake.quake` or `Quake Mission Pack 1 - Scourge of Armagon.quake`. Launch files should be in `/userdata/roms/quake`. Mission Packs ------------- Quake Mission Pack 1: Scourge of Armagon & Quake Mission Pack 2: Dissolution of Eternity are supported automatically. Ensure the game files are in these folders: `/userdata/roms/quake/hipnotic` for Mission Pack 1 `/userdata/roms/quake/rogue` for Mission Pack 2 Then create the associated ES launch file. i.e. /userdata/roms/quake/Quake Mission Pack 2 - Dissolution of Eternity.quake If the mission packs are names accordingly then vkQuake or libretro-tyrquake will use the correct .pak automatically. Music ----- The original Quake had a great soundtrack by Nine Inch Nails. Unfortunately, the Steam version does not come with the soundtrack files (the 2021 re-release music should work out of the box). The GOG-provided files may need to be converted before they are ready for use. In general, you'll just need to move a "music" folder to the correct location within your installation (.e.g `/userdata/roms/quake/id1/music`). Mission Pack 1 soundtrack files go inside "hipnotic/music", and Mission Pack 2 soundtrack files go inside "rogue/music". Because the music files are separate to the .pak files you can use your own soundtrack provided they follow the correct naming conventions. The files are named in the pattern "tracknn". i.e. track02.ogg or track02.mp3 etc vkQuake supports OGG, MP3, FLAC, and WAV audio formats.
